What is ALIPH ?

ALIPH is a foundation that protects heritage – museums and their collections, sites and monuments, documentation and manuscripts, intangible heritage – in conflict and post-conflict zones. Today, ALIPH has supported over 450 projects in 35 countries, with a total budget of $60 million. These projects include the protection of the collections of the Museum of Civilizations of Cöte d’Ivoire in Abidjan, the rehabilitation of the Mosul Museum (Iraq), the protection of the Byblos archaeological site (Lebanon)… In 2017, China was one of the founding members of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage and Conflict Zones, alongside France, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Morocco and Switzerland.

The exhibition

Through five sections and across various media including photos, videos, 3D videos, and 3D-printed objects, the exhibition offers for the first time an overview of the heritage preservation projects implemented by local and international partners with the support of ALIPH. Notable projects showcased include 3D prints of ancient glass artifacts from Lebanon, the methods for documenting traditional know-how, particularly in Afghanistan, and the conservation of earthen architecture in the Sahel.
